Need some opionins

Got a customer ordering up a new trans from Keisler for his Hot Rod. He's getting rid of his 4-speed and putting one of Keisler's new SS700 5-speeds in.

All my customers that have manual trans either are very firm on what they want or already have a trans in the car. Never really had the opportunity to do my own research and choices.

My question is... The customer asked what my opinion would be on the best 11” disc and pressure plate to buy? The flywheel is 11” but Fidanza doesn’t make the clutch kit anymore, so I need to go from Muncie to 1 1/8” X 26 spline input shaft for the Keisler.

So what is your guys preference, choice, and best all around unit?

Here's a few pics of the car its going in.

I can't comment about the clutch question but I would like to say it is very cool the little hot rod has a manual trans... and he's doing a trans swap and sticking with the manual... awesome!

Mark,

Assuming its a small block in the 450 to 550 hp range, I like the centerforce dual friction, for me it had nice engagement with no chatter(cold or hot). Can handle the power nicely and doesnt feel like you need Arnold's leg to push it in. I think the centerforce 2 has organic frictions on both sides and may be a good choice as well. If you dont use there flywheel make sure the springs/center in the disk clear the flywheel bolts, some flywheels have a shallow pocket.

How much gear in the rear end? 3.70 or better?

Even if the car was heavy it weighs 2,700 lbs, any ol clutch will do it. I have a stock LUK clutch in my 32 and at 425 horse haven't hurt it yet.

First -- WTF kind of comment is that "dude is 70..." HEY! We grew up when automatics were what your mother wanted -- not what any self respecting MAN wanted!

Second -- Nothing better than an old dude in a red, stick shift, '32 Ford.... :action-smiley-027:
