Push button start
What seams to be the best push button set up out there? I have to install a new system in a friends 69 Camaro. I think Stardrive has gone out of business
|
Oh wow, I thought Stardrive was kinda the front runner on those. Seems like everyone that does wiring (Painless, Autoloc, AAW, Ron FRancis) offers a basic version now. Looks like the Ring Bros version is the most full featured now that there's no Stardrive?

Think they are related to Bowler Trans, I know RadRides has used this system. |
I'm using this system in my 69.
http://www.advancedkeys.com/ Seems pretty decent so far. I don't actually have the car on the road yet so most of my experience with it has been with testing and just starting the car in the garage. It can tie into the door locks, trunk release, and even act as a remote start. |
I just use a push button momentary switch and an arming toggle switch.
|
It is easily done with simple momentary switches when you have the Isis system.

I have done Phantom and now doing an Advanced Keys setup. I will let you know how the aa kit works in a couple weeks.
|
What about this setup from I DIDIT? Anybody tried it?

For my 65 Chevelle I used a arming style toggle and a pushbutton start switch with a generic RFID setup from ebay. The RFID was like $25 and you see them on ebay all the time. I just added a latching relay and it works fine.
For my friends custom 55 Nomad I used the Advanced Keys setup and I think it's a good unit for the price. It was easy to install and the instructions were easy to follow. The only thing I didn't like too much was the start button. It's a big sucker but overall it worked fine. $350 for the combo unit and $190 if you just want a start button. HTH. Alex |
