SN65 Dyno results
Yesterday, we had the SN65 out at Finish Line Performance (Naperville, IL) for a dyno session. We made 7 runs, made a few adjustments and ended up with a max rear wheel power of 402.4 and a max rear wheel torque of 396.4. This is an increase of about 40/40 over the original factory numbers.
We found that the original plugs were not up to snuff and would randomly miss causing a 30 to 50 HP drop per incident (miss). After changing out the plugs and fine tuning the fuel curve, etc... we ended up with a much smoother operating powerplant. It was a fun time and we are now looking to up the power to about 550 RWHP with 550 RWT. We are talking to Whipple about a blower upgrade and the expected results. Bob |
One of my favorite cars. A blower upgrade? Holy crap, stop and move on to the next project before you go broke.

I can't move on untill I get this thing exaclly where I want it. 550 RWHP and improve the breaking and handling a bit and I will be home free. Then I can start on the next project. Bob |
Really nice job! Did you up the boost or max RPM? last year at Reno Nevada's HOT AUGUST NIGHTS I saw something simular to yours, but not with your attention to detail. I like your yellow!
He found what was left of 68 390 ci code (S) GT/CS Were in no rust Nevada. So the car was all there. It's just over the years had been used as a bracket racing drag car. He told me that since it came with a 390 back in 68 that a clone 2004 SVT with 390/390 TQ/hp needed to go back in it. He got on the horn and found a new rolled 2004 wreck and they went to town. |
Great job!

Congrats on the nice numbers :) . That thing is going to be even more of a beast with the Whipple  .

Thanks for the kind words. Do you have any photos of the 68? I would really like to see some. Is he just swapping out the power train? |
