Ideas for my 47' Ford
So, I'm in a weird spot with this car I just picked up. I paid $4,000 for it last month, and have put a couple hundred miles on it with no real mechanical work needed.
I want to keep the 3.9L Flathead, and a manual transmission. I'm more interested in suspension/chassis/braking modification than anything with the car. WHAT WOULD YOU DO?! If it were mine??? Dropped axle, disc brakes, 8.8 rear and a 5spd.

Supposedly they are short enough to clear the front seat, and long enough to clear the dash. I'm interested in that... Check out the H.A.M.B., look in the Tech archive section for the 5spd swap. I know that's what folks seem to be using, not sure what it takes to get it done though.
3 kind of cars that in my book are fun, Free beaters. Even better if 4wd or all wheel drive. Purpose built race cars Basic old timey simple cars. I drove a 55 Plymouth Savoy with a flathead 6 as a daily for a few years. One of the best cars I've owned, dated my wife in that car....ahhh, good times. :cheers: Dan |
Chassis Engineering has a lot of the stuff you're looking for if you are looking to keep prices down, I also like the liter reference
