1965 Chevelle: Suspected Body to Frame misalignment
Hey Guys, I discovered when doing some wheel/tire mockup that my wheels are biased 0.5" closer to my driver's side fender. I need all the space I can get with my wheel/tire combo. I don't think the axle is biased, since I installed new DSE control arms in the rear.
How would one go about resolving the body shift with a car that is complete? Can I loosen all body bushings from the firewall back and shift the body 0.25" towards the passenger side? |
I know this is not the same car but I did a similar check on my Caprice 1995. I started by checking the frame first to make sure it was in fact biased to one side. I then followed by checking the control arms mounting brackets (rear end and frame) to see if there was any damage that would cause the rear end to sit to one side. Turned out that the body was sitting to one side on the frame. Loosened all body mounts and carefully moved the body over about 3/8" to center everything up. Roger.

I had the same issue on my 77 Impala. I loosened the body mounts and shifted the body over.
