, was selling for a friend on eBay. Well to make a long story short I got outbid and the item didn't meet the reserve. Then a few days later I got a SECOND CHANCE offer to buy the motor for about $1,850 less than the highest bid and $1250 less than my highest bid ($6K)! WOW this must be my lucky day!! Here is the first email from SCAMMER: *** eBay Second Chance Offer - Buy The Item You Recently Bid On - Notification Preferences indicates that you want to receive Second Chance Offer Notices. In compliance with eBay's Policy, the seller is making this Second Chance Offer to you at your last bid price of US $4,750.00. The seller has issued this Second Chance Offer because either the winning bidder was unable to complete the transaction or the seller has duplicate items for sale. If you accept this offer, you will be able to exchange Feedback with the seller and you will be eligible for eBay Services associated with a transaction, such as Fraud Protection. To purchase this Item just contact the seller at [email protected] or by replying to this email. His english is good and the emails actually makes sense. He also avoids using my name, I gave him a fake name, nor does he give his. So what do you guys think would be an appropriate reply. Also before I get to the good news pIease send me a copy of the dyno sheet, pics and engine blueprint since I can't access the ad anymore. It is a minor detail, but it will make things go so much faster. I mean with all the scammers out there nowadays you can never be to careful. Now for the good news... Like I said earlier it is a very busy time of the year and the company is expanding. So my boss wants me to fly West to Sacramento, CA, which I believe is about half hour away from Wilton, CA. It seems like the stars are all aligning and I am meant to have this motor! Also no need for you to ship the item for free, I have had bad experiences with freight companies anyway. The company I work for will pay for us to take 500lbs of carry on luggage for business related travel. So could you verify the weight of the engine? I am sure it is less than 500lbs. If so, how much would you charge fashion a harness to secure the motor to a dolley similar to the dolley in the link to the eBay ad below? Of course for safety concerns we will have to drain all oil, coolant and gas from the engine, but those are trivial details. Anyway I look forward to your reply. My guess is now the engine will magically be somewhere else. Then ask for a specific pic, something that isn't in my ad. |
Heyyy, I received an email supposedly from Paypal (I knew it wasn't). It states that somebody just paid me for my watch and if I want to find out more info to click on the link. That same email is attached to the link. It had all the proper logos and such, that guy is good at what he does.

Definitley try to arrange a meeting, as Jody mentioned. Ask for a copy of the actual dyno sheet/ engine blueprints, something he shouldn't be able to come up within a few days time.

If he is selling an item that he doesn't posess, and is attempting to trade across state lines, that is fraud, and if reported to the FBI gets investigated.....I think. I've dealt with a scammer or two on ebay.

A little while ago, an F-body guy got screwed out of a watch by a guy named Eric Gasper. Armed with the scammer's name, phone number, and looking up addresses, he went public to the fbody.com message board.

They all went nuts calling the guy, signing him up for stuff, and ordering stuff to his house, etc. The thread was huge, so I have condensed the better 'tactics' below. (My favorite is ordering a dumpster to his house and putting his house for sale on line) :rofl: Now they won't answer the phone. Just picks up and hangs up. Nobody give up. Cheats can't prevail. WE WILL WIN TOGETHER!! Now I am getting the answering machine. Someone local go knock on their door. WOrking on it, on Relay service with his parents.. muhaha I called him and blocked my number. He was like "Hello... heeeelllllllllloooooooooooooooo" lol then hung up. Hahahahahhahaha, alright well I was on the relay service, turns out the number you have is for his home phone number that he doesn't live at anymore. It is for his parent's place, I was on the relay service for more than 20 minutes with them, just confusing the hell out of them. Trying to get his new phone number for you, but it seems that they were very picky about giving his business number up. I pulled every trick in the book to get that number for more fun, but without any luck. I even talked to them like I knew Eric well and I even used his mom's name to try and get on their good side without any luck. Well at least I pissed them off by waking them up at 12:30. Muhaha isnt the internet fun! muahahhaha he will be getting some free tampon samples in the mail courtesy of me! i called him....sounded real tired like when you get woke up lol but its late and my g/f is sleeping so i didnt say anything....just wanted to wake him up I'll do my part, it 2235 in ca and i just called and left a message.
