This may be a thread hijack (and pm me if it is), but what is the story on Ford wanting to use only Motorcraft oil in the power stokes? I was told that the injectors are "oil fired" or something like that and only the Motorcraft oil is non foaming, or something like that. Any info on the truth to that?

The only logical reason I can see is that Ford must have their hands in it. Most manufacturers do this hoping to trick consumers into getting service done only at the dealerships. Rest assured that you can use any lubricant that meets the specs for that particular application without warranty issues. This was an issue a while back but the government got involved and put into affect the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act in 1982. Read about it here. http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles...ne-maintenance.

I was referring to the ford bulletin that claimed that their oil was superior and that all others cause injector failure. I've been running Rotella and changing it around every 8-10k and it now has 160k on it. On the Amsoil stuff, I have several other work trucks (like 15 or so) and most of them are diesels as well. What is the dollar value and difference of your stuff over the Rotella? |
