Sparco R505 Seats
1 Attachment(s)
Looking for some feedback on these. So far these look like my first choice. They seem like a good compromise between decent looks and good lateral support. Wondering if anyone is running them and what they think of them. I would consider other options in the same price range. I will be running 4 point belts. Thanks

What is that price range? I cant seem to find a consistent price for those.

Any chance you might be interested in stepping up a little to a set of the R700A Alcantara seats?
http://www.sparcousa.com/product/r700a I have a brand new set (actually, I own 3 of them) that it appears I'm going to sell for something which fits me better... PM if you have an interest and want more info. A few of the Lat-G guys got to see them this weekend, so they can attest to them also. :) |

I run custom wrapped 505's in Three of my cars and love them to death.... I'm a pretty big guys so you have to watch the size you buy (or so I was told by the shop that orders them for me) as the base can be tight pending you size (I'm 5'11" at roughly 255lbs)...
The hardware on them is plastic and sucks frankly,,,, but the seat it self is so dam comfortable and holds you right in place... ^5 to the 505's I wouldn't hesitate buying another set... Recaro also does some really good seats and you may want to look into there counter part offering as I'm pretty sure they'd have something in the price point too.... |

I'm not an expert in the Sparco line, but here are the 3 main differences that I know of between the R505 and the R700:
The R700A uses the Alcantara (swede) material. I cannot speak to the R505 material, but I can say that the R700 is really nice. :) The reason I am looking to switch is that I'm actually a bit too tall for this seat in my car. Eric made a custom set of seat mounts which dropped the seat as low as possible without cutting out the floor, and even still, I'm a little too close to the roof for comfort. So if you are 5'8, I would think these would be a much better fit for you. I wouldn't necessarily have paid the normal price for these seats over the R505, but I got a heck of a deal on the pair, so I made the purchase. I purchased them slightly used, but due to damage in shipping, I received replacements that are brand new. We have mocked them into my car, but that's it. So I could make a good deal on them. :) Also, whichever brand and model that you choose, you need to add the price for the sliders to the seats (about $100 - 125 per seat). Then you also need to get some form of mount to the floor, which will probably run $75 - 125 per seat as I recall. And most importantly, however you purchase them, make absolutely certain that they are shipped insured. As my experience went, I had to have 2 replaced due to damage. :( The come in big boxes, and they are easy to damage... |
