Shipping a car???
 

Guys I'm looking at a couple of cars that are on the other side of the country. Doesn't make sense to go pick it up myself, so anyone have a good place to get a quote on shipping a non running car? I have an ad on Uship so we'll see where that goes. But so far when I add in what they want to ship it the price of the car gets up there?? It's still an ok deal but $1200 plus in shipping eats into my budget for the car. $1200 is a lot of parts when I really need to keep my budget in check on this one. Anyone got any other ideas??

Rick, I had a car shipped (enclosed) from Cleveland,TN to Plattsmouth,NE for $900 thru Uship but I kept the shippers contact info for future business. It will be cheaper next time because we will not have to pay uship fees. Let me know if you want their info.

I had my 67 RS Camaro shipped twice and it was about $800 each time. I recently contacted Reliable Carriers and it was going to be $770 to North Carolina from Ohio. I always ship enclosed, but you can save like $100 by not shipping enclosed. Price will vary if the diesel costs are higher, time of year, big events, etc. Might be cheaper for you to pick it up.

Well my listing ended on Uship and it came in just under $1200 to ship from the west coast to the Midwest. This is in an open transporter, not sure how this seems on price? But from what Jeff and Jarrod have said I think $1200 from Cali to IL is not that bad?

Open trailer from CA to IL for $1200? I don't think that's very good based on my research lately.

I tend to agree. I've paid that or less for closed trailer to Texas on 2 occasions. Once from Florida, and once from California.

Had a 69 Camaro roller shipped up from Florida about a month ago and it was $1000, enclosed.

Brougham was 2800 enclosed from California but it had 4 flat tires, several parts (engine on stand/etc) and boxes of parts. Wasn't an easy job.

Also had an 89 4Runner shipped from Portland Oregon a few weeks ago, $800 open trailer but it was a running vehicle.

I could use a referral as well. Can some of you guys list your sources?

You can also try a furniture moving company. Like Allied Van Lines, or United Van Lines. My friend works at Allied Van Lines, and they have hauled cars too. His most busy time of the year is during summer, so expect the rates to be higher. I think that my rates were during the fall, so it will be based on the time of year.
