Need your advice guys
Hello guys
I bought my 68 camaro from a friend of mine who installed a vintage air kit,and it is an old system which has cables for controlling and stuff. The heater and #10 &6 fittings are all pointing towards the firewall in order to be run through the heater opening I did not like how the engine bay looked like so I decided to smooth the firewall in addition to other body work and rust repairs. I purchased an extra length hose kit to run the hoses through the kick panel opening and behind the fender. So now with the firewall being smooth, is it possible to reroute the #10&6 fittings from the evaporator to point towards the kick panel like the newer model vintage air evaporators |

I decided to post a photo of the Vintage Air evaporator to give a better idea of what I am talking about. As shown above, all the the heater lines fittings and #10 line fitting have to go through the firewall in order to connect all the lines. I am not concerned about the heater as the lines were not hooked anyways. I am going to run the AC lines like I mentioned through the blower hole and the kick panel fresh air opening. Therefore, can I reroute or somehow bend the #10 tube in order to point it towards the kick panel vent? Your input guys will be appreciated |
Anyone??

I'm sure it can be done. I've seen a/c hardlines cut and re-welded to add mandrel bends or specific fittings on them. Just make sure whomever does the welding is good so it doesn't leak or fail. Should be able to cut it on the straight section, add a 90 degree bend and then re-weld the hose fitting back on to aim it at the passenger kick panel and out the firewall.

I thought most units you can disconnect the hard lines and just run hose/AN fitting to them directly.....On my Gen IV, I just left off the hard lines supplied and plumbed everyhting under the fender through the heater fan blower opening and down through the kick panel straight over to the unit..
Are you lines welded directly to the unit ? |

The only problem is that the #10 from the unit is pointing towards the firewall, which now needs to be cut and rewelded in order to aim towards the passenger side kick panel |
