Holley fuel pump sound level
Having used many different brands of electric fuel pumps over the years [most of which sounded like a lawnmower choking on tall grass] I am happy to report that the new billet Holley Dominator 12-1400 pump that I just installed in my old Pro Street Mustang is quieter than the AC in my shop. I had to turn off both the stereo and the AC to make sure the pump was running. It was, and making 43PSI, just like its supposed to.
Nicely done Holley! |
That's good to know Bret, because most of the EFI pumps drive me nuts with the noise they make.

They are hard to hear prime. I've personally tested them for over a year with e85 with excellent results as well.

Hello I just ran across this thread and found it interesting , I have been using holleys billet 12-890 fuel pump with there billet 100 micron pre filter and billet 10 micron post filter all running thru 8 an hose and fittings mounted level with the bottom of the fuel tank all most like the tech article from modified mustang magazine . The problem is mine have been loud really loud I have been thru two of them the first failed after two weeks and I had it warranty returned and exchanged for a new one after several month the 2 nd one has started to fail also , they both start quiet but after a while they start to get loud and the valve that holds back pressure fails and the pumps run continually . I need to buy another since it is not under warranty any longer and not sure which brand to buy also I am looking into installing it in the tank this time . Any suggestions to why it might be failing and how are you guys mounting your holley fuel pumps ?
