Black cars?

I am looking at purchasing a black car and I am a little nervous about this color.
I have a couple of questions:
(Remember this will only be a nice weather w/e cruiser)

1) Anyone regret painting their car black? Why?
2)Hard to keep clean without creating surface scratches.(clear coat)
3)Does black require different care (waxing, washing etc..)than other
colors?
Thanks,
Scott

I had a black daily driver about ten years ago.

1. Never regreted going with black just because it looked sooo good!

2. It wasn't that difficult to keep clean, just plan on doing the ritual twice as much as a lighter colored car. I would always power-wash the crap out of it to remove any loose dirt/dust before the wash mitt even touched the paint. Don't use the foaming brush at the car wash! You'll also want to use a soft chamois for drying, and I used cotton baby diapers for polishing and waxing.

3. See above.

If it's truly going to be a nice weather cruiser it shouldn't be that much of a problem. Just keep it covered when you're not driving it, and good luck. You won't regret it!

I like black for several reasons.

The paint itself is cheaper then other colors like red. :)

You don't have to really worry about a fender not matching a door, etc.

And it never goes out of style.

Yes, you do get tons of micro-fine scrathes everytime you wipe it down. You really need to glaze it at car shows, if you want it to look it's best. But that really applies to all colors, you just see them better in black or dark colors. Other then that, I really don't see any need for special cleaning.

Black

My opinion would be what does this car look like now? Black looks great on a great body, but like sh-- if otherwise. Needs to be done right, then nothing looks better IMO. More work to keep nice.
Think of it as a girl wearing a thong - looks great if she has an awesome body but terrible if not!!

Classic Stuart!! That's funny!!

I agree..Nothing looks nicer than a nice black car. When my Camaro was black it was awesome. But the body had to be perfect!!! I will say though when I re-did the Camaro blue it received more attention at the shows & magazines, but that is not a reason not to paint it black. The only drawback IMO on black is that most black cars have black interior & you can lose the details very easily when it comes down to the interior & motor compartment. You have to bring in some more color to help break it up. Once again..only my opinion.
