PIR Historic Races 6-29-2013

Decided to road test my Camaro for the first time since the trans install and fire this morning and headed to Portland International Raceway for the Historic Races which is 110 miles north of me on I-5.

I called Bob (96z28ss) when I first hit the track and hooked up with him and his friend's son Dakota who Bob was introducing to motorsports () and we went to the grandstands at the chicane on the front straight to watch the big-bore cars heat race and then the group 6 Euro's which ended at the lunch break.

We went and cruised the pits at the break, I didn't have much time so I snapped away with the camera and towards the end of the pit loop I ran into Dale (DaleTx) and we started BS'ing and I'm not sure where Bob and Dakota went! :D

The red 67 Camaro was the highlight for me.......the guy could drive and the car flat performs. Dale and I really enjoyed our 10-15 minute conversation in the pits with the driver. Basics of the motor - Cast iron 302 with cast 2.02 heads, lightened everything inside including Ti valves produces a 9K redline and non-comment horsepower.

Anyway, there was a lot of very nice cars at the event.........wish I could have stayed all day and Sunday too!

Here's all the untouched photo's I took fresh off the card in slideshow format.

Great shots!

That dirt track Fjord looks okay too.

What did Tony Stewart/Jimmy Kimmel think of the action? (Scott, tell me you get it)

I am s.s.s.sorry. Hopefully there's satisfaction in knowing I drove back in humid upper 80's temps with a black vinyl top and no AC........Any thing over 80 is too hot for this Native Northwetter. :D

Had a great time, we kind of seperated a bit and then I couldn't find ya, should of known you'd be at the 67 camaro again.
I love sitting by the chicane, thats were alot of action happens (good and bad) No one went thru the chicane faster than the 67 camaro did it was like it was on rails.
The orange porsche tagged the back of the gold mustang sending it into a spin. They had a group 5 driver meeting after lunch, could of been to talk about the aggressive driving.
It was a hot day out but was so much fun.
