Hey guys, do you know what type of connector this is? Can you make your own wiring harness with these?

These get talked about a lot. People mostly call them "Mil-spec" connectors. I worked on military trucks for 5 years and they are nice to work with. I would love to put some on a couple cars but trying to buy them is a freaking nightmare. You need to figure out what shell and insert you need for each half. There are a million options. I'm sure some people understand them better than I do, but reading the sites that sell them just confuses me. They aren't exactly cheap connectors either, especially if you want stainless shells rather than plastic.

II much fabrication does sell a set, but I believe they are just offering the one set up, so it would be limited to the pins available in it. It would be cool if a vender put together packages of a few different size connectors. Maybe a dozen options that would cover most of what guys like us would want to take all the confusion out of trying to figure out who to order from. If only I knew how, I could be that vender lol.

Had I thought about it at the time I should've cut the connectors off all the scrap harnesses we replaced when I was working in Iraq

Thanks T_Raven for the help. They look like they work well, but you are right they are expensive.

Prowire usa sells duestch autosport.

Mouser electronics sells the MIL connectors and they are worth the phone call.

We offer 31 and 14 pin Molex XRC kits. They are a lot less expensive than the mil-spec kits, plus you can use an ordinary crimping tool, instead of the rotary crimpers the mil-spec connectors require.

Well then. Theres your answer. the fact that John's kit doesn't need the use of a rotary crimper is the best bang for the buck.

Wish I would've seen that Molex's do not need the rotary crimper :( there goes 300 bucks outta my pocket.
