Ls style brakes on a gen 1 camaro
 

Hey guys, I have the brembo 2010 camaro brakes but they apear to be more trouble than they are worth at the time. I also have a set of ls brakes front and rear that it seems would be easier to deal with at the time. The brembo brakes
are really cool but the combination of nobody having much info on the conversion and me knowing it will make my rim choice harder, it got me thinking to at least look into the ls brakes just until the brembo conversion becomes more of a simple option. So, has anyone used the ls conversion on a gen 1 f body? If so what all did the conversion take and how do you like it? I know theres a bracket thats like 50 or 60 bucks or so but what all else is needed. Currently my car has disc in the front and drum in the rear stock. And sorry about the run-on sentence, thanks in advance guys for all the help again.

Curtis I talked to tobin recently and he told me they primarily do corvette conversions. They hardly do anything for gen 1 camaros. Also they are rather pricey, theyre brackets cost about three times what everyone else is charging. I understand when you pioneer something but they are still rather pricey. Jmart makes some good looking stuff I think I will order from him. I just have to get ls rear brake backs. Then with the brackets I will have what I need for a little over 100 bucks. Tobin want 300 for just the front brackets, hes a nice guy just a little to rich for my blood.

Wow...that's not quite what I remember discussing, so let me see if I can clarify a few things for those who might be interested. KORE3 primarily offers C5/C6 Corvette-based brake conversions for muscle car applications, not LS1 F-body brake conversions, however we do offer plenty of A/F/X-body kits as those are the largest part of our business.

That said, when we spoke before, we had a few sets of limited production LS1 F-body brackets for the GM short-spindle (GMSS) applications for $150, not $300. As we discussed, these aren't full production parts (yet) and may never be, hence the price. Sorry for any confusion and good luck with your project.

Tobin I apologize for the misquote but I just felt it was to expensive even at 150. I may look into the c5 stuff because that may be worth a bigger investment. I would have to price out the rotors and calipers to see what the costs are looking like. I wasnt trying to hurt ur business or anything, I hope you dont take it personal.

I've got full ls brakes fr and rear on my 69. With a detroitnspeed brake booster master cylinder combo. Works great. Basically the exact same as corvette.

Yeah its not looking good for my brembos, they are looking like they need a new home.

Not counting your money or anything, but $150 is too expensive? This hobby is a luxury. And for the service of a well respected guy like Tobin, who I know anyone on here can and will be more than happy to vouch for, I'd say $150 is relatively a good price for a proven product that guaranteed to fit and perform. This Jmart guy or company, don't know him and not knocking him, but to try and save $50 because you said you could get it from him for $100, is a hell of a chance to take. Just saying.....I've been down that road a time or two trying to save a penny and it backfires on me. I mean, you already have the Brembo brakes...make them work. Tobin has already said he has what you need. Good luck though with everything.
