Hotchkis rear sway bar a must if you have rims?
Hey guys my rim guy was telling me I will need to run a rear sway bar if I have rims. Is this true, or just his opinion? The car now has a 350 with a 4 speed tubular a arms sub frame connectors a hotchkis big sway also qa1 coilovers. I know this may be a stupid question considering the name of this site is lateral-g but I figured this was as good to at least ask. Thanks in advance guys for the advice.

What size wheel and tires are you going with? I would only do a rear sway if the car is pushing in the corner's. What rear suspension do you have?

I am not 100% sure what tire size, in a perfect world I would run 19-20" in the front 20-21" in the rear. Maybe a 18-19" combo would be good, the suspension in the rear is just a standard leaf spring set up, I saw some hotchkis leaf springs on here with a 1.5 drop for sale. I sent a pm message about them but havent heard anything as yet. What are some suggestions in terms of upgrades to make the 69 handle better with the wheels I suggested? |
Leafs yes? It will keep the sway down but it will do a little to keep the rear centered you should be good. A sway bar is a great tuning aid. Just watch your side clearances.

Ok so it will help but is not a must have is what I gather. What would help the car stay centered and are coilovers needed with my setup or will rear hotchkis leafs be good enough? |
If you really had a problem you can use a watts link but you would have to watch the competing roll centers of the watts and the leafs.
Or just plan your sizing and back space correctly. Your pretty much stuck with 295's. Are you mini tubbing? |

Mini tubbing would be nice but not really a good option at this point. Financially it would impact my budget. Maybe next year. I just want to get on the road for now. |

On mini tubbing? Considering the tubbing is just the beginning you have to take into account that my wheels will get more expensive, and to get the true look I want making the axle shorter is really the only way to go. It just seems like I would be adding another 5k plus to my build just for a fad. A fad thats good for your car but its not mandatory. |

you can mini tub and add the other goods later. |
