Alternative fuels and ways to increase Mileage

Well here it goes....another research paper.

I am writing my final research paper and the area I have chosen to write about is alternative fuels to gasoline, additives to increase gas mileage, and ways to create better fuel economy.

I remember hearing about a guy that was cooling his gasoline with dry ice and it helped increase the mileage on his car drastically.

Also I am reading about running engines on water, salt, and metal alloy

Can anyone tell me a bit more on E85?

Can anyone give me thoughts on what they have ever heard about any new strategies they are working on?
I know the Hybrids of course are becoming more popular and also Detroit News mentioned about the GM cell car, but I can't find much research.

Surely some of you big three employees have some information about this topic. Thanks in advance.

I just received this link from a friend. Check out the FAQ page. Very interesting...we just need to figure out how to get 1000hp out of it!!!

Ive heard that adding acetone to your fuel will increase the MPG upto 35%. How true is it not sure yet still researching it. Make for an interesting read though. I first heard it on this board M715ZONE

here are some of the links in that discussion.

Since we are talking milage here, anyone driven a VW TDI? I will be starting an outside sales job soon, and lots of driving will be a big part of my days. My '97 Bonneville SSEi gets pretty good milage, but the Turbo-Diesel's 42mpg in the city, 49mpg on the highway looks very nice.

One of my tenants has a VW diesel and she says it does well. She said she is getting around mid 40's on the highway.
