Clutch pedal won't come back up after pressing
 

Hello guys

my camaro is equipped with TKO tremec 5 speed but not sure about the clutch brand and Throwout bearing that were installed by the previous owner. The car initially had the wilwood master cylinder set up along with the pedal that he ordered from prodigy customs. However, i did not like how the master cylinder was installed so I decided to order the wilwood master cylinder with billet adapter from Keisler that will fit into the clutch hole on the firewall but I ordered the kit without the hydraulic bearing.

So the new master cylinder now in place, yet I received a call from the shop manager telling me that they had bleeded the system but the clutch pedal won't come back up. That is weired because he is saying it could be a weak spring on the clutch fork.


I tend to disagree with him because the clutch was functioning fine 100% and i believe there is still air in the system causing the pedal not to come back up.

Could somebody advise what to look for to resolve this issue?

Ya sounds like he still has air in the system. Sometimes u have to actually grab the pedal and pull it up and pump by hand till all the air comes out. Also u can gravity bleed it as well. hope this helps!

I'm going to have to agree with Steve at this point. It sounds to me like it's simply not bled completely/correctly.

It sometimes takes a bunch to bleed the system... I run Tick Performance bleed hose kits on all of the hydraulic builds now.

Thanks guys, that is what I told the shop manager that there was still air in the system because I had only replcaced the master cylinder. You guys know that there are some shope managers or mechanics who think they know everthing and the customer does not know crap

I have the Keisler set up in my El Camino, and it was nothing but a major P.I.T.A to bleed out. the bleeder on the line to the bearing was pointing down. pressure bleeding, gravity, nothing worked....:confused18:
I ended up bolting up the slave and master while the trans was out and bleeding it to get the air out and now it is fine.
Also double check that the rod and pin at the pedal going through the fire wall have clearance. FYI.

Well I did not order the complete kit from Keisler as the clutch and the throwout bearing along with the bleeding and feed lines were newly installed. All I ordered was their wilwood master cylinder with billet adapter for the firewall and the oil container or bottle. It seems like bleeding process is a hassle and requires lots of patience.
