Setting up my 71 camaro ss/rs for protouring?
Need some help. I would like some recommendations on how to set up my car for pro touring. Suspension is all stock. Was looking at the Hotchkis TVS. What size wheels and tires can I run? Do I need to change out the steering box too? Open to your info! Thanks. TC

Hi Tom,
Welcome to the site. This would really depend on the level of build you are anticipating and the usage of the car. Are you a street driver 75% and track or auto cross 25% of the time? Look to your expectations before you start buying. A reliable street combination without mini tubbing is 245 front 285 rear. |
And how deep are your pocket book is.

Good luck with build. Theres tons of info out there, this is my favorite site, but a really good one for 2nd gen camaro's is NastyZ28.com |
VInce, Thanks for the info. Yes mostly street driven and autocross about 25% of the time. Can I run a 17 or an 18 " wheel with that set up? I just started getting info from some of the sites. Thanks, TC

If you are mainly street driving then the TVS system is just fine....however 20% of my customers complained of a harsh ride or high NVH. What im saying that its subjective.
Where are you located? |
I have hotchkis springs as well on my 73.
Heres a small list. 388 SBC 700r4 Kore 3 brakes Hotchkis springs 19x8, 19x10 Boze wheels (new) and love them. 245/35/19, 295/30/19 Custom rear BFH mod. lol! And I still have some money for gas. :D |
