67 Chevelle SS396 Convertible

Hey Guys!

I know that I haven't posted for a long time, but I still lurk quite a bit.

Earlier this summer, I sold the Pimpala. It was a difficult decision to make, but my next door neighbor purchased it. He is a very cool guy and will take amazing care of it. I guess that I still get visitation rights!!!

I began my search for something new to begin with. I have always loved PT cars, but tend to stay on the budget side of things.

Here is the car I got just a couple weeks ago. It's a rust free '67 Chevelle SS 396 Ragtop. It's a real 138 car. Interestingly enough, it was built in the Maryland plant on 9/7 of 1966, and is convertible body #000013.

Currently, it has a mild 396 with a 2-4's setup. Auto trans, and 12 bolt rear. So far, I have added Global west tubular A-arms, 1.5" front bar, and 1" rear, hotchkis drop springs, and HD Bilstein shocks. The Wheels are Boss 338's (18x8 and 18x9.5) for now, wrapped in Nitto 555's.

This winter, I would like to install my Muncie 4 speed, and upgrade to a big Wilwood setup both front and rear. I have alot of 'UGLY' to remove from under the hood so be nice....I've only had it 2 weeks :-)

Here are some before pics from 2 weeks, ago, and well as an 'after' pic.

Nice!!!
Post up a larger "after" pic please. Looks great!

Cool car! I honestly can't remember the last time I saw one that was a convertible. Are you planning to keep the 396 in there?

Glad that you like it guys! Thanks! The 396 will stay in for the time being. It runs well. I am thinking that even if I upgrade the drivetrain, it will most likely remain a BBC. The Muncie will make it more fun to drive for the time being, but a 6 speed is on the wish list!!!!

Apparently, I fail at posting pics taken from an Iphone!

Wilwood W6A's for the front and W4A's for the rear are on order from Tracktime Motorsports with 14" rotors.

Alum radiator, shroud, and all the parts for the Muncie swap are here. As soon as the snow flies, this thing is coming apart. I am thinking of pulling the engine to re-do the underhood compartment, and start getting rid of all the ugly stock and catalog parts!!!!!

Here is a quick shot after being detailed by Randy at Northstar Detail Supply.

I can't wait to tear into this thing and get this project going!

Love the car! I find myself stripping the "Ugly" away from my new project as well. I plan on putting the boss wheels on my 66. What size nittos are those? They fill up the wheel wells nice.

Nice Car!

Thanks guys, I am glad that you like the car! It has 245–40–18 on the front, and 275/40/18 on the rear. The tires are Nitto 555's.

That's not so much "ugly" as it is "normal".... When I see stuff like that I always wonder why the guy has his hood up at a show. It costs nothing to
make it look "cleaner".

Nice car and you'll make it even nicer.

Is it done yet??

The Wilwoods showed up last weeks. Took a lesson in safety wiring from my friend Andy.
