My trunk is flexing

Hey guys my aftermarket trunk lid on my 69 Camaro is flexing. Im guessing because it has no bonding glue to adhere the outer and inner panel together. What can I use to remedy this and not warp the outside panel.

Get an org lid, just sayin!!

I've tried to use the aftermarket ones in the past on a few customers cars and had to either fix their org or get another usable org lid. They all flex from what I've seen.

I have heard that the one that Heartbeat City sells is nice but I have no first hand use. Sorry!!

Nope there isn't any open seams on the under side :poke:

I did try this once, I drilled some holes on the underside bracing and used rigid pillar foam from 3m and filled the crap out of all the bracing. It helped a lot, then I used panel bond to close up the holes as if you try to weld them up the pillar foam will melt and burn.

Still nothing better then an OE trunk lid for a 1st gen.

By the way I have one that you could have? It needs some repair on the underside in the corners but still better then the aftermarket ones? Shipping to up north may be cost a bit? How far are you from the UP Mi? I'll be there next week for work?

hey Steve you can drill some 1/8 holes in the lip that folds over and tack weld in these holes and it makes a huge difference, the skins is really loose from the inside on alot of these aftermarket ones, mine is tacked in all four corners and it made it real stiff

I was just reading about Lord Fusor 121/124 Flexible Foam (Super Fast) and it states that its purpose is to firmly attach outer panels to inner structures. Anybody used this stuff?
