First Gen Camaro Front Suspension Heidts vs Speedtech
I just recently purchased a 69 camaro. I am planning on using my original subframe, getting it stripped and powdercoated and building the front suspension. I was sold on Heidts but looking through forums it seems as if no one is really using their suspension kit. I've seen a lot of people using Speedtech. Just wanted opinions from anyone that has used either or if there's another company I should look into? My complete suspension will be 2" dropped in front with Wilwood brakes, DSE minitub 3" dropped kit with leaf springs out back. LS (not sure on which exact size) and a T56 Magnum. Thanks for any feedback

I have always heard great things about Speedtech, and also Ridetech is another option.
I spoke with Jay at Speedtech in the last couple weeks and he really helped me out with what I needed. I ended up ordering the pro-touring kit from them, which includes upper and lower control arms and coilover setup. Hope to install it in the next month or so. |
Thanks for the info Matt. Are you able to fit a 10" wide front tire with the Speedtech front suspension kit?
|
Ridetech is the only kit that will say they can fit a 10 inch wide wheel with the stock subframe. My understanding is you have to modify the inner fender pretty aggressively to allow that.

Thanks for letting me know it's "aggressively" the website makes it sound minimal. So I assume 9-9.5 is more accurate with no inner wheel mods?

Totally understand what you mean. I own a 74 nova and can't fit anything underneath the stock inners. Thanks for the visual. Looks like RideTech will be getting my business.

I have a 72 Nova you may have seen it and it has 275 on the front. the inners are modified but hey this is hot rodding........ right.
if you run the AFX spindle and our high Clearance upper control arms you can fit a 9.5 with a 275 on the front. BUT you will have to modify some of the sheet metal. |
Thanks Rodney for those pictures. I need to do that so I can a larger tire up front.
I want the Anvil inners, but my Procharger is touching the stock inner fender now, so I dont think Anvil will fit. |
