Which gauges are most important?

Besides the Speedo and Tach, which other gauges do you feel are the most important to have in a dual purpose daily driver/road race autocross car. I have openings in the dash for six (6) 2 1/16 gauges. These were my thoughts in no particular order;

1. Oil Pressure
2. Oil Temp
3. Water Temp
4. Volts
5. Fuel Level
6. Fuel Pressure

Any thoughts on this?

That would depend on how many holes you need to fill. If I had to lose one it would be fuel pressure. EFI engines will let you know if fuel pressure isn't up to par.

I have six holes to fill. If I don't need the fuel pressure, what would be a better gauge to replace it with....trans temp, air/fuel??

Analog clock :D

I'd do an AFR. If it was blown, EGT.

if its auto consider tranny temp

That's the same set which I chose. Fuel pressure is pretty uninteresting, although I can monitor it through my ECU so if I didn't have that one it would be ok. I'm not sure what else I would add, I think AFR moves too quickly to realistically be monitored by a gauge. There does come a point where you can actually have too many, although if you already have the holes, you may as well at least add something. :)

Yep, I'd take AFR over FP.

If you are gonna drive it hard on tracks, in my opinion, a big red oil pressure light is the most important! The gauges are almost just "cool to have" in comparison :D

I do love much gauges though.. :)

What exactly is a daily driver road race auto cross car?

So you have 8 holes in the dash? Man that is a lot.
