1969 camaro pillar post drip rail panels

I have my 1969 camaro pillar post drip rail panels fitted and epoxy coated, what is the prefered method for attaching to the pillar post. The factory had three small screws and some type of adhesive. Is the adhesive necessary or was that some type of a sealer to keep water from getting behind the piece? :knokwood:

Next steps...

Thanks for the replies, I have my first coat of high build primer on the roof area that looks really good, I plan on reattaching the channels with a light coat of seam sealer under them and then the screws. I then was going to apply the seam sealer to the entire channel from front to the back before the final coat of high build primer.
