A quick shout out for ATS spindles
 

Just a heads up, Speedtech/ATS has now upgraded our forged spindles! Rather than the C5 hubs we were using we'll now be installing the 2013 ZR1 Corvette hubs into both our standard height and tall spindles. Some of the advantages are:

Larger bearings that have more balls, literally.

30% Thicker wheel mounting flange that can handle more abuse.

Large variety of brake package options.

They're engineered for the top of the line ZR1 Corvette, so they ought to be good enough for for a pro-touring car, right? ;)

Best part about it is that we're now providing an even better product without raising the cost at all to the consumer. How cool is that?

So was that supposed to be 2013, or just 2014 Z-51? I'm curious...

I could be wrong Bryan, but those look like z51s to me.

You are correct. I have a pair of ATS spindles with the 2010-up ZR1 (SKF) bearings that Blake set up for me a couple of years ago. They do have the splined hole through the middle of the bearing (the fronts and rears on the ZR1 have the same part number). I was curious about the "without raising the cost to the consumer" assertion since the ZR1 bearings are much more expensive. At first I thought Ben might have included an old file photo, but if you look at the front view, just below the indexing hub between the two lower wheel studs, you can see evidence of the hole that has to be drilled in the flange to insert a tool to spot face the larger ZR1 bearing housing for the lower ATS mounting stud. I specified, and Blake provided genuine GM bearings -- SKF makes them for GM. I don't know if someone else is now making "replacement" bearings (without the splines), but it would be worth asking the question. Ben?

I am curious if the hubs for the '14 and up C7 will work on the C5/C6 uprights. Somewhere down the road I'm sure I'll need a new pair, and would love to hear that GM upgraded the hubs for the newer model!

I typed the wrong year and fixed that part. These will still accept C5/6 brakes. I will check with Blake on the other questions, or have him chime in. He's setting up the drag strip equipment today for the local race we're sponsoring tomorrow, so it may be Monday before I have an answer for ya.

The Bearings are Direct from General Motors, and are the NEW Corvette Front bearing they are NOT splined like the last version which used the same hub front and rear. they also do NOT have wheel speed sensors as GM is obviously using a different system on the new Model.

The bearing pack is larger than the previous hub as MFAIN mentioned we need to machine the WMS and spot face the mounting surface to install the bolt this was not required on the last models The WMS flange is also approx 30% thicker than in the past.

The bearing packs have the same offset as previous versions same hub diameter and same wheel studs they now have a rubber seal on the back side I presume to keep dirt from between the hub and upright.

When you say new, are these the new bearings for the 2014? Eliminating the splines and the wheel speed sensor would certainly bring the cost down. Does the bearing housing and the thicker flange look like they are the same as the earlier ZR1 hubs? Also, will you be selling the hubs (with the minor mods to fit the ATS spindle) separately for those who need spares or who want to add them to their previously purchased spindles?
