Momo steering wheel, Ididit column and NRG adapter?

So I have a replacement Ididit column i'm gonna be installing. I'm wanting to run an aftermarket steering wheel. Looking at maybe a Momo model. After "googling" around I came across the NRG Short Hub Adapter for domestic applications which includes Ididit brand columns. NRG also sells a pretty sweet looking quick release setup. The short hub description states it is made for their quick release. All three of those components, i.e. wheel, hub and quick release, have a 6 bolt pattern.

I'm curious if you can run the short hub adapter directly to the wheel without the quick release? The QR is cool but I'm concerned it would but the wheel too close to the driver. If nobody happens to know, i'll just give them a call next week.

Any other thoughts on the NRG products? I'd never heard of the brand till I started looking for this type of setup. Products look nice but hand-on experience from some Lat-g peeps would be a plus :-).

Thanks!

I have an NGR quick release on my stock column with a Momo wheel. Great piece IMO, if you need to do anything under the dash it's real nice not to have the wheel in your way. Theft protection is another bonus.

I have the same setup with a Sparco wheel. I was also a little concerned about whether it would put the wheel too close, but I am on the tall side, so it works out just about perfectly for me. My only gripe is the shifter is a touch too far forward relative to the wheel, but I've gotten used to it now.

As Sieg said, it's really nice to pop the wheel off when you want to work around the dash area, and I took mine off when I've left it parked somewhere that I'm not completely comfortable with and just put it in the trunk.

Nice piece, well made, I recommend it.

NRG question

Hey guys, im wanting to run this release on one of the cars at the shop.

Right now I have a Sparco adapter already on the column. Can I run the Gen 2 off of that adapter? Is the NRG release base 6 bolt pattern the same as the steering wheel 6 bolt pattern?

What I want to do is run the release between the wheel and boot.

I ordred a regular QR but its mounted on the lower 3 bolt side. No bueno to use.

Vince,

I bought the NGR quick release and mounted it to my Momo adapter hub which was a collapsible design. Regretfully it put the wheel too close and cramped arm movement. I purchased the narrower NGR hub which put the wheel close to the previous location. The bolt patterns were the same in my situation - 70mm.

Perfect Sieg, thats what I wanted to hear. I also have the Momo adapter so it should work perfectly. I ordered the new column thats 2" shorter than stock.

Its a nice set up and is built right.

How much time do you have with the adapter? Any play in it?

There's only a couple thousand miles on mine. No detectable movement at all. The NGR piece is a nicely designed and machined piece - much better than expected for the price.

unlike the stupid one I bought from grant. Feels like the darn wheel is loose.

Just ordered a few and should be in on friday. I'll post a few pictures of the install.

If I noticed ANY slop in the NGR while driving it would be gone in a split second.
