Its a little of both. Inspirational that we are, as far as we know, pretty unique. We live in a awesome time with the most advanced technology, medicine, and information. Many people carry pocket computers that can do so much. Its not perfect but its better than it has ever been.
A little depressing to know everything and everyone I know will be gone in 100 years. Ultimately my life is pretty insignificant in the grand scheme.
I like Carl Sagan.
