14 bolt rear end

My uncle has a 14 bolt GM rear end out of his one ton truck that he is getting rid of. What I was wondering is if anyone has ever put a 14 bolt in a car. I’m building a 450+ HP 454 for my 77 Nova and it only has an 8.5" 10 bolt in it,I am concerned about blowing up the 10 bolt. Would the 14 bolt be over kill?

You really don't want to try to put that 14 bolt in. the 8.5 10 bolt should hold fine for that kind of power with street tires. You would be better off getting a few upgrade parts for that 10 bolt then to put in that heavy 14 bolt rear.

Great for a 2500 series truck, stick with the 8.5
