Viper T56 to lsx 1967 Firebird questions

I have a Viper T56 for my 67 Firebird project. The main reason I wanted the Viper T56 was for the forward shifter location. I will be installing a 98-02 ls1 camaro front plate, input, bellhousing to mount it up. My questions- Is the mount in the same location as GM T56? Will GM style T56 tranny mount bolt to Viper case? Also, has anyone found a good way to get a speed signal to work with say, a AutoMeter speedo? I could always use the GPS signal box from autometer but would like to find a way to use a sensor on the tranny. Thanks to anyone who can help me!

I've got a Viper T56 behind and LS3 in a '68 Camaro (still under construction).

I swapped the input shaft but not the front plate, I used a Viper hydraulic throwout bearing, which clocked the hydraulic connections in the right place for my GM style bell housing and swapped the hydraulic input fitting on the Viper bearing for one from an LS1 hydraulic throwout bearing to connect to the GM style hose from the clutch master cylinder. The Viper T56 will bolt up to a GM LS style bell housing (I used an aftermarket steel bell housing).

The Viper transmission mount is the same distance from the front of the transmission as the LS1 mount, but much farther below the output shaft center line than the LS1 T56 mount. Trying to use a cross member designed for an LS1 T56 will have the Viper T56 jammed hard into the floor of the car and seriously screw up your driveline angles. I had to cut up and re-weld a very pretty cross member to use it with the Viper T56. A GM style transmission mount will bolt to the Viper.

The Viper VSS needs a 5 volt input. There are DC to DC voltage converters that will step the 12v in the car down to the 5V needed for the Viper VSS. It's a three wire connection on the VSS - 5V, signal and ground. The Autometer speedometer should work fine with the output from the Viper VSS.

Thanks Mkelcy for the response! I didnt know I could use the Viper slave. I figured that the longer input shaft of the Viper would mean a longer slave. Good to know, saves me $. Do you by chance remember how much lower the Viper case puts the mount vs. the GM(how much you had to lower mount on crossmember)?

My best recollection now is about 1.5" or so.
