Speedtech Convertible '69 RS SS

We recently got a '69 Convert in the shop for an engine and suspension swap. It's almost done, we need to adjust the suspension, do an alignment, and a little bit of interior work to wrap things up. Thought I'd share a few photos and will post more "posed" pics when it's done.

The story is this car was bought at auction a few years back. Upon returning home the car got driven about 8 miles when the SBC grenaded. So much for a fully rebuilt car. The owner was so frustrated he just put it in storage. Over this past summer we built a '69 Camaro for his son, see below. That car became a mag cover car not long after it was finished. Dad liked our customer service, shop work, and products so he decided to dust off the 'Vert and bring it to us. We're glad he did, and we suspect the car is too :).

We found several things wrong with it besides the bad engine, so we ended up swapping in our Track Time complete front and rear suspension package along with an LS2 backed by a 4L60 and a full custom stainless exhaust system. Enjoy the pics!

nice car. What is the od off the exhaust piping 2.5 or 3 inch?

Exhaust

Thanks Ben for the exhaust pics with the Torque arm and stock tank, exactly what I was after.

Very nice guys, is he changing the wheels? They just look a little dated? Nice looking car!

Awesome suspension upgrade Ben. Just wondering is this the EFI tank from Aeromotive/Tank Inc?

Ben@SpeedTech 02-03-2014 03:47 PM

The exhaust on this car is 2.5" od. That is an Aeromotive fuel tank with internal Stealth 340 pump.

It would be our preference to do something a little wider, but the owner likes these. However, it looks TONS better with the ride adjusted lower. More pics soon...

Wow! Another "auction car" gone bad... who'd a thunk it!?!?

Nice work and glad it turned out! Such a bummer to buy a car and have it go south on a guy. Now that he's found a first class shop -- maybe he'll start to enjoy his car the way he should.

Thanks for the compliments Greg.

Lol! The last 3 auction cars we had come in all had major issues. It's a shame folks that don't see the problems are buying these cars for top dollar, and then find out later it was thrown together poorly. Helps keep the honest shops like us busy I guess, but it's still too bad. Anyways, at least it'll leave here in good shape.
