Engine Casting #3932388
Is there anything special about this 350 motor? I was told it was a replacement engine from Kragens put into my 85 El Camino from the previous owner. When I Google the casting numbers all I get is info about 69 Camaros and how rare this motor is. I'm not buying into all the hoopla I just want some general info on the motor.

I have that same casting number on the original block that came out of my '69 Camaro. The engine is still sitting in my garage after I blew it up many years ago. There are many arguments about how rare it may or may not be. Mine has a two bolt main.

From all indications the block is identical to #3932386
It has been found in Passenger cars with the 350/300hp engine suffix code stamping. Most #3932388 blocks are dated from September 1968 to December 1969." The problem is there are no exact numbers as to how many cars had this block casting number but it is way more than what it takes to be called rare. The block doesn't have any special features that sets it off from the rest that would make it any more desirable than other blocks from that time period though. |
Thanks Gaetano and Rod. When I looked it up a few months back I read it was a 4 bolt main but I won't know for sure unless I pull the oil pan and that's not going to happen. Either way, it runs good and passes smog so I'm happy.
