Camaro Morrison Components
 

We're working on a second hand '68 Camaro at the shop & are in the mock up stages of the build. The car has a Morrison front stub & Morrison tri-bar rear clip that was already installed. Tire sizes are 275/38-18 front & 335/30-18 Rear. We have our mock up shocks set at 13".

The issue is the car just doesn't seem to sit that low. I like my stuff lower than most but it sits way to high for my liking. Has anyone else had this problem? I've seen some guys modify this setup but would rather not. Input?

67-68 have higher wheel arches than a 69 so to get one to look like a 69 and tuck tire take alot of effort. same issue between second firebirds and camaros as well.

I agree with Mike's comments. Also would add on the front a 12.5" or less eyelet to eyelet shock length would help. Or you could raise the front upper shock mounts with a bracket. If you can, install 1/2 height body mounts. Rear has the same issue, but be careful of wheel clearance.

Not sure when the suspension was built, but I saw upper shock mounts redesigned/relocated on a recent second gen sub from AME which sat lower.

Take it one step at a time and you'll get it.

Call AME --- and ask them for their expertise.


The guys that are there are VERY knowledgeable...

I called my rep. (we're a dealer) & he pretty much confirmed that we have it set up right for now. Sounds like we might need to do some mods.

What's stopping it from going lower? As in, can you change the springs or adjust the coil overs? Or are there clearance problems?

No clearance problems. It's a suspension geometry thing, like it's not designed to sit that low. I'd love to see Craig chime in.
