Newbie from windy Regina, Saskatchewan!
Hey guys! My name is Devin. I've been lurking around the site for a while just reading and learning and I thought it time to crawl out from under the rock
Some quick info: I'm a farm kid so I've always loved anything with a motor in it, but my real passion is modernizing muscle cars. I graduted from the Wyotech Sacramento campus class of 2011 in the Auto Technology Hi-Perf Powertrains course with the highest grade in my class (99% ). The dream is to be working in a performance build shop but there aren't too many of them around so I'll just keep working and building cars and hopefully things catch on. The car: '71 Chevelle. It was my dad's first car, purchased in 1976 for $1250 with 36,000 miles and has been in our family ever since. It was nothing special, just a 350, TH350, 10 bolt 2.56 rear end Malibu. After a 20 year nap in the quonset, dad and I pulled it out and began the resurrection process. Unfortuneatly neither of us are body men (I would love to learn) so that part was subbed out. The rear quarters, trunk support, inner and outter wheel tubs on both sides, rear window filler and drivers side floor pan were replaced. The rest was solid. The stock hood was replaced with a fiberglass Harwood. The fun stuff: Gen I 350 .030 over Performer RPM heads Comp valve train with 1.6 roller rockers FAST XFI 2.0 Edelbrock NOS (100 shot) Be Cool rad and trans cooler with efan Electric water pump March serpentine system Hooker super comp ceramic coated headers Flowmaster exhaust with original 40's 700R-4 from BTO Strange 28 spline axles Auburn posi carrier 3.36 Richmond gears Hotchkis suspension front and rear CPP front discs AAW harness SS dash conversion with electric autometers Power seats from an '06 tahoe It put down 346whp before the spray on a Superflo Autodyn 30 that we hauled it to so I could tune it. The car isn't the caliber of equipment seen on here but it was my first "ground-up" build. After all, I'm only 24 years old  with a lot left to learn! My dad is a die hard "old skool" type car guy so that should explain why the build went the direction it did. My next build(upon acquiring the capital to get it started) will be a street/track '69 Velle much like Tom.A's primered '69 (LOVE that car BTW) So there it is guys! I'll answer any questions that I'm sure you won't have, and I'm open to comments and constructive criticism. After all, how else am I going to learn!? These were the only pictures I had readily available but there are more. http://photobucket.com/albums/t653/71CHVL |
