Mixing vendors
 

Has anyone mixed a DSE front sub setup with a Speedtech torque arm?

Assuming I match shocks front and rear, is there anything I should watch out for? If this a dumb idea you can just say it.

I know most people suggest sticking with a single vendor because they design their products to work together...but I would like to do the suspension myself and the Quadralink may be beyond my personal installation comfort level.

what vehicle? First gen Camaro quadralink is very easy to install comapred to the other models. If you can mini tub it, you can do the quadralink.

I have a bit of bronze brazing experience (built a few bike frames) and minimal MIG experience (built a couple of square tube tool stands). That's about it.

You might want to take a class. Not sure where you are but the Tech Shop has a great fast course. And open use for personal projects.

I suggest just going Quadralink - average install time is 10 hrs from what I remember so at 60 an hour that's 600. I think that's worth the headache of getting jri/afco/koni whatever to work with the torque arm. Also seeing you have the subframe already the expensive part is out of the way.

It sounds like I should just go with the Quadralink.

I live up in Oregon, a bit east of Portland. We don't have a techstop but we do have something similar. http://www.adxportland.com/. If I decide to do it myself, I'll get in some classes and put in some quality time with a welder before doing so.

I am just going t play devil's advocate here for a minute, I have never installed a Quadralink, but have had a few cars come through the shop with them, and IMO there is no way you are going to install it in 10 hours. Not with cutting out the trunk floor and re welding in the shock mount cutting out and welding in the upper trailing arm mounts. The Torque arm we tell people it is about a 10-12 hour install including removing the stock suspension (this does not include any restoration or finishing of the floor) it also does not include welding the brackets to the rear housing. and the Torque arm is an easy install in comparison.
but like I said I have not personally installed one. maybe I'm just slow???

I think it's that's the rate my welder is charging me to install mine... maybe I'm lucky? But I did bring it to him completely stripped car so that may be it.
