1968 Chevelle LQ4/LS3 Build "Brooklyn" DC TRUE
Well guys and gals here is my 1968 Chevelle/Malibu originally 307/th350 that was later converted to 350/th350. I've owned this car for over a year and a half. I originally posted my build over at Chevelles.com forum http://www.chevelles.com/forums/show...415&highlight= but think it may now be better suited for here. My plan is to make a weekend cruiser/daily driver with power no plans of boost so I felt the 6.0 was the way to go.
What it looked like the day I bought it http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/...8chevelle1.jpg Some of the metal work done http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/...gejpeg_2_3.jpg http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/...gejpeg_2_4.jpg http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/...gejpeg_2_9.jpg http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/...ejpeg_2_10.jpg http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/...ejpeg_2_14.jpg I just recently pulled the 350/350 I had in there http://youtu.be/AT85z1CC-xw http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/...ps66f807af.jpg I plan to put in a 04' LQ4 with a LS3 top end http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/...psbbc8e050.jpg http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/...psd229ae8c.jpg http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/...ps958f1276.jpg http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4938af90.jpg http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7ab3d008.jpg http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/...ps96871bb2.jpg http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/...ps36120c98.jpg As it sits today http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3537e1ed.jpg Currently I've been gathering parts for the swap. I was able to get a long block LQ4/80E for pretty cheap. I was also able to find a good deal on a f-body oil pan, Dirty Dingo slider mounts and I'm still undecided on whether I should use the Doug or Hooker swap headers. Right now I'm looking for an accessory drive, wire harness/pcm and a few other parts. I plan to redo all the suspension with UMI parts starting with the rear and working my way up front. As of right now the car is sitting but hopefully I can get this project started soon. Any and all info/suggestions is helpful thanks in advance. |
So far I've been a little busy. Haven't been able to do everything I wanted but have made some progress. The plan is to get the body off the frame in the next 2 weeks or so. I got the front clip off a week ago. I also plan to change up the interior, so I sold my front 69-72 buckets I had. I still have the rear bench if anyone is interested. I've also picked up a few suspension pieces here and there.

Welcome to the site. Good looking car. Keep up the good work. Are the Chevelle guys giving you a lot of flack for painting your engine Pontiac blue?

Downsides to have a small garage is that something is always in the way. Nevertheless I made some progress these past couple of weeks. Was able to get my body off the frame finally after much delay. Also was able to get my rear end completely re-done. Should be able to get the frame off to powder coating within the next week or so. Finally things are coming together.

Got the frame back from the powder coaters today. Happy is an understatement. Definitely feel as though I made the right choice.
