Lets talk Buick Rivieras!
So I found this car and I know absolutely NOTHING about it. What can you guys tell me? Is it worth anything or should I have them haul it away? The owner passed away and its in a house Im trying to buy. Where is the vin # on this car? Oh and the most important question... How would I get a title for it?

Umm Haul it away. JK, if its been in the garage and theres no rust. Its worth a fair amount of $$. Thats a desirable body style 64' or 65' by the looks of it.
CV? |
There is no rust. Its been in that garage for at least 15 years. Id guess 1971 or 1972 according to Google Images

Aaargh!! For some reason I have not been able to see about half the pics posted on this site on my iPhone. But if its a 64-5 Riv (like the "roadhouse" car) then you need to "haul it away".... To MY HOUSE!! LoL! Seriously, those are bitchin cars and worth some coin. If its a hidden headlight one, then it's even more desirable. They also make an awesome low rider!!

455? 350? What's powering this thing?
|
Boat tails are almost as cool IMO, the earlier ones with smaller bumpers more so. They make pretty killer low riders too and can get decent coin.
Any idea why I can't see alot of the pics on this site on my iPhone? |
I wrecked a identical one back when it was almost new. Belonged to a friends parents. We were kinda wasted. Look and see if a quarter panel has been replaced.right side.

That's a boat tail! Mt dad drove one when I was born. He said the 455 in it did epic smoke shows.

Because it has the MANDATORY side marker lights -- it looks more like a '72 to me. I'd clean it up and sell it and consider it "free" money --- early 70's anything just aren't worth what the earlier versions are. That's when they started with the whole smog bit - and lowering the HP numbers.... and blah blah blah. It's Green / Green not triple black or some other desirable color combo. Remember this -- it costs the same amount of money to do ANY car.... motors are motors - tires are tires - paint is paint -- the costs of those things don't change just because you're doing a "non" popular car.... what does change is the value for resale and sometimes "rare" was rare for a reason -- nobody wanted them then either... LOL Not saying a Riviera doesn't have a certain following --- but think about it for just a minute. How many of these do you see being restored or did you see at the last car show you went to... vs how many '62 to 65 Impalas -- or '69 Camaro's -- or GTO's etc. |
