BluePrint Engine company

Looking over options and don't know anything about this company. Sold through Jegs and priced a lot lower than some of the familiar names....Good? Bad?

Goal is 400hp +/- and will be going in the wife's Mustang with an automatic behind it.

Thanks
Dan

I have people right here Dan -- where you can have a sit down discussion about what you want and how you want it... and you can have fun being a part of the process... and if you want to - run it on the dyno right there.

Yeah it's probably a little bit more - but that depends on the parts you're going to go with. Rick has built 3 engines for me and they're flawless! Best trouble free bad ass motors I've ever owned. Built the stroker blower motor in Rudy's '69... and that motor is awesome. Custom built for how THEY want to use their car.

Crate motors are less money... "normally".

This one Dan?

BP3060CT Crate Engine, Long Block, Ford Windsor, 5.0/302, Bored 0.030 Over, 306 C.I.D. 390HP, Base Crate Engine.

Summit also sells it at $3500 shipped. My thinking - Either one of those companies probably wouldn't be selling BluePrint if they've had excessive problems with their products and I'd imagine at that price point they'd turn more than a few of them.

DBasher 05-26-2014 10:19 PM

That's one of em Sieg, also looking at the rotating assemblies and heads and and and...All I know for sure at this point is the power I'd like to have. I've got a complete 302 out of a 91, just not sure if I want to have it gone through locally or just pop for a "crate" motor.
Greg, it may be a good idea to go and talk with someone who's recommended and trusted. My deal is I don't know enough...I do know Rudy's motor pulls like a FRICKIN freight train! Once I get this motor apart maybe I'll have your guy inspect it and start the conversation.

Does he do LS motors:peepwall:

Dan ---

My parts from Wilwood arrive tomorrow - and if I can get 'er done I'll roll out of here tomorrow afternoon..

When you're headed EAST out of Redmond on 202 -- Turn RIGHT on Sahalee Way -- at the big outdoor garden shop... you're just going up the hill and there's a CRANKSHAFT for a mailbox post... on your right -- roll up that driveway and you'll see the shop... just go in - they already know you've rolled up the driveway -- Jim will have a smoke hanging out of his mouth --- and RICK is the engine builder you want to talk to. Tell them you're a friend of mine -- then hold out your hands flat on a table and wait for them to be smacked with a ball peen.

Four Rodger Dee big brother!

By the way -- just asking to make a horsepower number doesn't really ever work out well if that's the ONLY criteria when building a motor. WHERE do you want to make that horsepower and where / when do you want to TORQUE to come into play are better real world criteria.

Know the cars weight - know the rear end gearing you PLAN to use - know the transmission... and tire diameters. How do you want to use the car... Daily driver super docile purr like a kitten - idling in stop and go traffic --- or sporty bad boy driven occasionally at a track. Or something in between. Ya need to really KNOW what you want in the engine manners department.... The HP number will be what it will be... and isn't nearly as important as the manners and use.

I get where you're going with that number -- you're really saying -- fairly mild streetable - my wife is going to drive it but it's still going into a hot rod.

I've got all my "targets" in mind as far as gearing, weight and use of the car I also hear what you're saying about the HP and TQ. I'll get in and talk with Rick and Jim and go from there.

Andrew thanks for the reply, nice to see you are part of this site. Because I have no clue about much of anything I'm looking for real world feedback on products before purchasing. I'll do some research and talk with Greg's "people" before I start moving forward on the motor.
