Hey guys, here's my issue. I have a 69 Nova that last summer had stock disc brakes in front, and drums in the rear. The front wheels are 17x7's and it was lowered with springs. Last fall I tore it apart to rebuild the front suspension as well as put an LS motor. Anyway, I rebuilt the stock arms, got a good deal on qa1 coilovers, and the cpp c5 big brake kit. I put it all together and now my wheels hit the tie rod. Talking with cpp, the kit is based off stock Nova drum measurements, which is stupid anyway, but consequently it moves everything in 7/16". So to figure out how much spacing I need, I have 3/8" worth of spacing on the wheel side, and about 1/4" of spacing on the steering arms. Obviously I am not going to run it this way, but I am looking for suggestions to cure this problem without having to order new wheels. I bought the middle length steering arms from cpp, however that didn't help any. So, any ideas or suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Had a similar issue with Rudy's Camaro -- but with 16" wheels up front and the inside rubbing on the tie rod -- and this is an aftermarket front sub from TCI...

I ended up having the wheels rehooped to move the offset.

I wonder if the Ridetech Tru-turn fit that spindle? That would move the tie rod and reduce your bump steer.

I saw something similar happen to another member. I think they ended up using a shorter steering arm from another Chevy like a Chevelle , Nova or Impala. I forget which one. If I'm not mistaken i think Ride techs true turn kit utilizes one of those steering arms as well with there kit. Maybe you can try finding measurements from another Chevy arm that's just slightly shorter and try that??

Thanks all. I've been looking at the tru turn, I emailed ridetech to see if their spindle would work with the c5 hub. I know there is a shorter steering arm available, but they are rare to find. I bought cpp's intermediate steering arm and that still hits as well. Hopefully I will hear back from ridetech and see what they say. I'm not sure what steering arms interchange with the novas.

We will be at the Goodguys show in Indy this weekend. It would be a good place to look at the Tru Turn and discus your project. A lot can be accomplished when the components in question are at your fingertips.

The short version is that our spindle will not work with the Corvette hub. I would also comment that even if you get a variety of components to actually bolt together, it doesn't neccessarily mena that they will function correctly as a unit. Our recommendation of buying a complete engineered system has nothing to do with making extra sales and everything to do with making sure your car performs at its peak. I think [hope?] you'll find this same advice from any other competent suspension manufacturer out there.

Thank you Bret, and I agree about buying a complete setup, I would love to be able to run a complete setup from you guys, just out of the budget at this point..lol So I guess at this point I need to go back to the drawing board. I will def stop by and see you guys this weekend!

do you have the CPP AFX spindles or just the brake kit?

It was the spindles, bolt on hubs, and brake package. Is there a way to adapt the c5 brakes to a nova or tru turn spindle?

Yes, there is a bracket and hub kit you can buy from Kore3.

I believe the Tru Turn less spindle kit (part number 11169525) should work with the CPP spindle. The factory steering arm bolts up to the spindle just like stock.
