Texas Speed

Hi, I am still a ways off from my swap as I am upgrading suspension etc. I have been going over some possibilities for an ls3. When I compare price of a stock engine and factor in can/springs, wire harness, tuning, etc, the price is within a stones throw of a Texas Speed package with everything pretty well done and ready to drop in. I have also taken into account that I have limited time between my job and a part time business, as well as no one close by to tune etc. This will also be my first ls swap although I have done a couple small block swaps. I know it won't be as simple as that but wanting to make it as straight forward as possible. What's the opinion on going this route?

I've received good feedback on their engine packages.

I think you'd be pretty happy going with one of their ready to drop in packages. As you said once you buy the motor, harness, cam, etc, etc you are not far away from just buying it ready to run and not having to hassle with everything. Combined with the limited time it sounds like a no brainer. Regardless of how you do the swap you will love the LS motor. I have been driving mine now for about 18 months and just love it! I wish I would have done it years ago.

I can recommend Texas Speed without a doubt. I bought one of their LS 6.0 engines a few years ago and the transaction and customer service were flawless. Although, I never installed the engine and sold it to upgrade to a LS7, the company was still a pleasure to deal with and I wouldn't hesitate using them again.

I'm expecting my 630HP 418 LS3 turn key package to ship this week...fingers crossed. So far their customer service has been great so hopefully the product is just as good...and gets here in time! They are sticking to the 6 week estimate so far.

I wouldn't be worried if I were you. They are a great bunch of guys to deal with. Although, in today's times, wherever one spends his hard earned dollar, I can understand being a bit apprehensive, but I would fret not with them. They're pretty cool. And post pics when you get it.

I have also been looking at their engines. Looks like a good way to go. I was on the fence with a stock LS3/430 with cam, LSA, or a drop in from Texas and I am leaning more towards the Texas package. I have heard good things about them as well, and so far my experience on the phone has been well received.

I have one of there 600 horse 416 ls2's in my Chevy II. Its a beast. Best bang for the buck out there I feel.

Well my CS experience is going downhill fast. I've been promised "it will ship next week" for the last 3 weeks straight and now they're saying not until the end of next week. I've had to re-book shop space and change my friends' who are coming in to help plans twice now because they can't give an accurate date. Every time I call I get a different story. Now it's because they have their builders helping move shop equipment to their new location...shouldn't they perhaps work on customer engines that are already 3 weeks late first?

I think it will still be a good engine if I ever get it but with our very short season up here I may not find out until next year now.

Not that it makes the wait any better, but they are moving to another shop. So, at least that's not a bunch of molarkey. It takes a alot to move a shop and all that heavy equipment. True, they should have made the apparent ship date known from the beginning, but bear with them...they are a standup shop.
