18x10" 69 Camaro?

Hate to revisit a horse that has been sufficiently beaten, but am having difficulty finding the wheels I want that are in line with the no brainer max tire size combo, no tubbs, for a 69 camaro. Looking to run Foose Nitrous wheels but the widest 17" wheel they make is 8.5" and I want to run 275s. What I am proposing is to run 17"s on the front with 245s and use an 18X10 on the rear with a 275/40/18. Any input greatly appreciated. (Feel free to throw darts as well if my hillbilly math equates to some serious rubbing)

I'm running 18x10's (5.75" BS) on stock wheel wells. You have to roll the lips on the 1/4's and I also had to hammer in the inner wells a bit. (it will rub 100% unless you do this) Rubbing will also depend on how low your car sits.

Thanks. Beautiful machine, paint looks 20 feet deep. Trying to keep all the original trim on mine, after rolling the lips are you still able to put wheel well moldings on? Anybody have thoughts on 275s on an 8.5" rim, bad idea or really bad idea?

I have 275's 18's on mine and it doesn't rub at all with a 9 1/2 inch rim.

Go with the 18X10 it will look better. Even if you have to do some extra work to get it right. as far as the front goes I would just play it safe and go with an 8" width just so you dont damage the wheel in turns.

Rybar, With your 5.75" bs are you running any type of wheel spacer at all?? Does it only rub articulating up driveways or will it rub on staight big bumps??
Also how did you roll your lips??

A buddy has one of those fancy wheel rolling tools. We used that for the lips, and a hammer for the inner wells.

I did not use any spacers, there is no room to. You can maybe get a finger in between the tire on the inside and outside so it is very tight.

Right now it rubs a tiny bit on hard acceleration with 2 people in the car on one side only. The car does sit very low right now since the springs have settled. The fix is easy, the lip needs to be rolled a touch more. From about 1 o'clock to 2 o'clock or I can raise up the rear.

I have to recommend a 9.5" rim width with a 275, with 5.5" of backspacing, on a stock tubbed 69. This has been beaten to death, as you say.

If you do manage to get a 10" w/275 on there, you will have to roll the outer lip and will most likely (and I'd lean towards "definately") have some inner sidewall contact when the axle tilts side to side (like when entering a driveway at an angle, for example.) You have to leave some room for the axle to articulate.

The extra .5" of rim width ain't worth the hassle, IMHO. - Rob

You can get 295's to fit if you measure carefully and precisely nail the backspacing. My car has 295 BFG drag radials and these tires are wider than most out there the same designated size. The car is lowered with a good stance. Most of the time you need to massage the inner fender just a bit.

The car has rolled fender lips, and the stainless trim has been cut on the underside at about a 10-2 clocking making the trim flush with the rolled fenders as you look at it from the floor up. Therefore, you can assume 275's should be rather easy to fit IMO. You can see pics in the below thread.

I was at the Goodguys car show yesterday and got to check out a 69 with 19x10's and 285/30/19's. Looked killer! The wheel lips were trimmed off and he was running 5.75" bs. I ask him if he had to hammer the inner wheels at all. he said "no" fit right in there.I think I want 19's now....
