Car Covers
 

Need some help on selecting a compay that sells car covers. I know there are company's like California Car Covers and Covers 4 Cars out there. Are the covers that Walmart and Target stores sell just as good? What materials are the best, etc? At the moment I am looking to buy covers for the cars I use everday.

California Car Covers hands down.

I bought a Wolf custom fit cover for my Camaro years ago (15-20) that's worked great. It's relatively heavy so it offers decent kid protection but isn't residential washer friendly.

I believe it's manufactured by Covercraft and now marketed as their Block-It series.

That's all I've used for my cars and bikes and have always been happy. Are you covering/storing inside or out? If out, there are other options besides CCC.

Need more info - Inside or Outside? What is your Weather like if it's outside? What's your Budget?

DING! That's the correct answer. There is about 15 different fabrics out there. All depends on what you're asking out of the cover. All these questions above have to be answered to find the right cover. It's not a 'one size fits all.'

I personally have a California Car Cover but have since stopped at Undercover on the Power Tour a couple times. I'd recommend either

I am in the South so we get all four seasons here. The summers are very hot and the winters are very cold. The cars are outside so I would like to have inside/outside covers. Would like to have nice, durable covers to keep the dust, rain, and UV's off the cars. Breathable and washable would be nice. Really no budget. Something that is lasting and does it's job is worth it.

I will have to get an indoor cover when the 69 Firebird is completed.

We use 2 covers. A really soft microfiber cover for the typical protection. But we also use these thin plastic covers with elastic edges to keep the dust off the car when stored indoors. The problem with the micro fiber or any non solid or breathable cover is it will let all the dust through the cover when you remove the cover. So we put the plastic cover on first and then the cloth cover over that. Now when we store a car outside like at a car show or in a hotel parking lot we put the plastic over the cloth cover so the morning dew or maybe rain will not soak the cloth cover. Plus the plastic covers we sell are cheap enough we just throw them away when they are dirty.

Now you don't want to use the plastic cover on a very freshly painted car as it wont let it breath.

I've had 4 covers from California Car Covers. I prefer the SuperWeave for indoor storage and the Stormweave for outdoor.

The Superweave is very thin and great for keeping cars dust free. Easy to put on and take off. I also like this cover because you can throw it on the car at a show if it rains and it is near-waterproof. This cover doesn't provide any cushion or ding protection though.

The Stormweave is much thicker with ding protection but still very breathable for outdoor use. After a rain, the car dries with no spotting but may have some dust residue from the cover on it.
