falken azenis rt-615k or BFG rivals for street tire?

I am limited between these two choices. I need 265/35r18 and 315/30r18. Not many options if I want to keep tread pattern the same front and rear. I am mainly using the car for street use.

I am open to other choices but I am wanting to stay under 1500 Thanks

I haven't driven on the Rivals, but I run the Falkens on my car. I've put about 3700 miles on them with several autocrosses and a track day. I have over half of the tread left, and the performance at the autocross has been good.

I'm sure Rival owners will have similar impressions of those. :)

What kinda of life would you guess on only street driving?

10k miles perhaps? Hard to say really. I figure I'm about halfway through this set, so I'll probably get 7k out of them depending on what type of events I do next year.

Both tires are excellent and get good reviews. Michelin Pilot Super Sports are also an excellent choice for both street and track use and will be more friendly for cold or wet weather conditions.

Rival's currently are only available from Tire Rack, but I here that is going to change as of the first of the year. Note: Rival's need a full heat cycle to be effective on the track. Falkens are more expensive and can be purchase online and also at Discount Tire.

Also, Dunlop has some excellent new tires and I like the Bridgestone SO4 tire as well.

I would recommend a 275/35-18 front size as it is a little taller than the 265 tire.

Good Luck!

Have you heard anything about a new compound?

One moe for Michelin SuperSports on Mostly street car that may see some light track duty.....or even some heavy track duty. Great tires, ride nice, wear well.

No, I haven't but I'll make some inquiries at SEMA this week with the BFG guys as Michelin owns BFG.

Please do. I know there was some after event testing at the Solo Nationals with the BFG engineers.

For what it's worth, I had the RT-615s on my last street car. I had around 15k miles on them, which involved drag racing and auto-x, running about -1.0 degrees camber up front and -0.5 out back, and they were just starting to show secondary rubber when I sold the car. Performance wise, I was happy with how grippy they were, but they can get sketchy in the rain if you're not careful.

15K? That's better than I was expecting. I was ready to order tires this week but just sold my trailblazer SS and bought a new 2014 Sierra. So after the down payment and sales tax the tires have to wait. :G-Dub:
