I need tire help!
I'm looking to purchase some wheels today, ha! I have a 68 Camaro with a DSE front subframe. They recommend a 255/35/18 up front and 315/30/18 in the rear. The problem is that I can't find this tire combo with the exception of race/autocross only Toyo Proxies R888. They actually have a warning on their site about not using these in wet conditions and I plan on have this be a daily driver too. Do you guys have any suggestions?
I was told I could go up to a 9.5 front width but what size tire would that fit? |
Are you buying new or used wheels? If you're taking advantage of Forgeline's current sale, they offer a package where you can get the tires with the wheels. If you are, I'd suggest contacting one of our vendors like MuscleRodz, Speedtech, etc and see what they can do for you.

I am doing the Forgeline deal but their recommendation was going with a 245/40 front tire to give more tire selection and I'm not too sure about that with a 30 series in back. Won't it look weird?

You should be able to run a 275/325 (or 275/335) combo if you work with a vendor who can properly specify the backspacing for the wheels. DSE's recommendations are conservative.

I would go 265/35 F and 315/30 R. You can go Falken RT615K or Rival, both are great for a mix of street and track. I have a pair of new RT615 K 265 Fronts for 1/2 price if you want to try them, if they don't fit I'll take em back...
