Multi purpose C-10

We are playing with a little c-10 that will be my sons first ride unless he decides he wants something different by the time he turns 16. He gets his learners permit in the morning so he will for sure be learning how to drive in it.
We found this truck in the corner of a local hot rod shop and was a really good deal on a roller so we gathered it up.
Here is what we started with.

After going back and forth on if we wanted to bag the truck or run coilovers with a 20/22 inch wheel combo we went with the coilovers. So a call to Porterbuilt fab, ridetech, and wilwood we had parts on the way.

For the engine I run up on a good deal on a takeout 2008 6.2 then swapped the cam and switched to a carb. Maybe not the smartest thing to do but thats what I did.

I had a feeling the truck would change directions several times until we were happy with it so I stuck it in black epoxy for now.

The fuel system is simple with a quickfuel fuel pump and a fuel safe cell.

Here it is on the 20's and 22's it did not take but a couple goodguys auto cross events to realize that the tires avalible for the 22 inch rear wheels suck.
http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...psbdc88048.jpg

So with my decision on the tires I bought a cheap set of 20x10 whells for all 4 corners and put a set of 265/35/20's up front and a set of 285/35/20's out back.

SO far the truck has worked pretty well,it drives good down the road, does well at autocross events and with a set of 275/60/15 drag radials it runs decent at the dragway. Its not fast but you can drive there run 7.50's @90mph in the 1/8 and drive home.

Now one day we will finish it.

ok that truck is BAD ASS!! i love that black look. i'm weird i like the flat black, military schemes, patina, way better then a glossy car. i'm twisted i know but something about a car like that just screams business.

very well done can't wait to see more. :ohsnap:

truck looks great as is. Glad you've been able to get it out and drive it. Have you let your son do any of the autoxing? What's next? Good luck!

Awesome truck! The best part is you're enjoying it! Love the launch picture!

Thanks guys and yes we are enjoying the heck out of this truck. My son took it for his first spin last night and that was fun to be part of.
I know this truck will never be very competitive at the goodguys events or LS Fest but I would like to do the best I can with what we have.
I would like to move the fuel cell forward about 4 inches and put the radiator at the tailgate but there is not much info that I can find about rear mounted radiators. Anyone know of a good read on the subject?

Love it and I hope to see it in person one day.

We decided it was time to blow the truck apart and start cleaning things up. This past week has been busy.

Fantastic project, especially since it's a father/son. I wouldn't mess with moving the fuel cell four inches or putting the radiator out back. The gains just won't be that noticeable. Contact patch, tire quality, chassis tuning, and driving ability will be where the real ground is made.

Awesome

Wouldnt mind stumbling across a 67 roller with a bunch of PB stuff for a deal

Completely missed this update some how. The frame looks great. Not sure I've seen someone daring enough to do a white frame. Good luck with the work!
