These are what come on the LT1 crate: https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5731/...32212ebf_n.jpg And these are a potentially more swap-friendly truck manifold: https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5804/...5716a6e3_n.jpg -The new C7 has electric steering so no hydraulic power steering pump is available yet. Street & Performance has a serpentine drive with an aftermarket Sanden AC compressor, about $1900 for the kit. The GM serpentine kit with AC and alternator only is part number 19329990. -LT1/4's have an 8-bolt crankshaft pattern, which is the same pattern as the LSA. The clutch/flywheel kits for the LSA fit the LT1/4. -The bell housing pattern is just about identical.. But the top bolt is in a different location. The new 4L65/70 E's that come in the connect & cruise kits for these engines have an extra hole to bolt to them. See picture below. At this time we're unsure how different the 4L80E will fit. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/606/2...8744fec6_n.jpg -The GM steel bell housing for T56's has the hole in the right spot, and is large to accept their clutch kit. -There are TWO different oil pans - dry sump & wet sump. The dry sump has a shorter (front to back) sump. Wet sump oil pans may require notching. Don't worry, there's plenty of room in the front of the sump to make that happen. Wet sump: https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5792/...9c12740c_n.jpg https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5727/...5f9c1279_n.jpg https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5727/...a00f207f_n.jpg Note these oil pans have no gasket.. Just RTV! And they're pretty heavy.... -The T56 Super Magnum that GM released is the same as the Magnum dimensionally, but the shifter is different, and there is a 40-tooth reluctor for the speed sensor, which is only required for the E-Rod systems. It's also a close-ratio setup. We'll update this thread with more details as they come available! If anyone has any more knowledge on these, feel free to post a reply- we all have room to learn about these Gen 5's :) -Dale |
Pretty cool but I am guessing the aftermarket will take a little while to adapt with headers, mounts etc. I hope that in the near future it may drop gen 4 engines a bit. Hopefully by this spring as I hope to snag an ls3!!
|
Cool!! But, what's going to be interesting are the newer versions and variations of the LT engines. I know it will take a while, but I can't help to keep wondering what the LT2, LT3, LT7, etc will be like. :y0!: Also, I wonder what cylinder head port variations will take place, what aftermarket companies will do with these heads, what aftermarket companies will do with this block. I guess we'll stay tuned, huh?

From the pics it looks like it keeps the ls engine mount location. Anyone know if that's true?
|
That's what I'm hoping for. Granted the LS7 still makes more power, the LT1 is pretty darn close. I'm hoping the high rollers opt for the LT1 and LT4 and the LS7s drop in price! $8900 for an LT1 crate is pretty darn good IMHO.

At SEMA GM was saying that the price on the LT1 was $11k.. and I thought.. boy for that price might as well get an LS7. But now that the prices have been announced from Jegs and such, they're considerably cheaper and not TOO far from an LS3. -Dale |
looking on ls1tech some places already have them and are shipping them. there are lots of parts for it already cams, cnc heads, stroker pkg and even a harness setup ready to go. if the mounts are the same the biggest problem i see will be the front drive and the header flange and thats not that big of a deal. and with new trucks having the gen 5 motors it will starting happening fast. if i only had the money i would be all over a lt1 or l86 truck motor.

Looks like Speartech offers a harness package for them too.

Looks like you need to pay to play....Geeze $2095 for a darn harness and ECM! and here I thought my DSE headers were expensive......:G-Dub: That's 20% of the cost of the engine package |
