I believe AN fittings sealed by the 37* flare, unlike NPT fittings. So you may be wasting your time there.

only NPT threads need sealer. AN just lube.

Yeah, if you need thread sealant on AN fittings, you have a problem. If anything conical seals can help if there is a defect on the flare sealing surface.
