What causes powder coating to fail like this?

Some people were looking at my car this morning and noticed the coating on one of the door handles is all cracked. The other side seems fine, at least so far.

They were both coated at the same time. The car has never seen less than 57 degrees, (the temp I keep my garage at). They were coated about 12 months ago.

Anybody with a lot of powder coat experience know what would cause this kind of failure? It's supposedly clear powder coat on billet aluminum.

Does the Wife wear a few rings? Looks like scratches to me.

my thoughts exactly

No rings. They are cracks that go through the thickness of the material. Not just on the surface. They look like stress cracks to me but the billet handles surely do not flex enough to cause that.

Too thick application/poor adhesion combined with temperature related expansion and contraction of the aluminum?

Could it be a UV issue? Does that side get more sunshine in the garage?

I would guess surface prep but then again there is lots of things I've thought lmao
