1970 Mustang Street/Autocross Machine

Hows it going gang! Im a first time poster so go easy on me! I love reading everyones post and decided it was time to make one of my own, so here we go.
Having a deep background in Motocross it was very obvious what kind of machine I would be interested in building. One that does not just go in a straight line quickly (certainly no disrespect to those who are into pro-street) but can also attack corners. Autocross was the obvious choice of interest. I'll be sure to keep you guys as current as possible on the build. I know you guys like a lot of pics.... so do I, so ill make sure I post them!! I am young and learning so be sure to comment and let me know your thoughts, because I am very interested in them.
I am starting with a 1970 Mach 1 Mustang. Ironically, this is an old customers car that our body shop did body and paint for it a little over 10 years ago. Some of the fun stuff we have in store for it are:
  • Fab9 rear end (shortened)
  • Chris Alstons full double adjustable suspension system
  • 351 stroked out to a 408 w/ fuel injection
  • roll cage
  • Tubed front end
  • ADV.1 18" rims
  • Strange rear axles (shortened)

Keep in mind this is my first full on build and things may (WILL) change as we go along, especially with the valuable input you guys share.

Good looking rendering and a great plan to start out with. I love the 70 Mach, I actually owned one for about 48 hours.....:buttkick:
What do you mean by "tubed front end"? Are you cutting out the inner fender structure?
Looking forward to seeing more.
Dan

Thanks Dan! Yea the front end will be constructed mostly our of tubing. Like this one.

We are keeping the shock towers so it will be interesting to see how we incorporate the tubing with the shock towers.

I shouldn't have looked...I've thought of doing the same and decided to just stay the course, maybe next winter.

Damn you Colton!

Welcome. You may want to Google search ADV wheel quality before you decide to put them on something you will be going to the track with. I've had a few friends on other forms have some scary experiences, both with their old company (360 forged) and new company. They have some great photoshop skills though in their marketing department.

Oh yikes! I for sure will look into that. Thanks for the heads up! What are some wheels you would recommend?

Take a look at what people on here are using on their personal builds. You'll get some brand names quickly (forgeline, formula 43, OZ, Etc).
