Crud Thug Alternative
 

Hi all, I thought I would pass this along in hopes of saving some cash for someone. I just noticed that Eastwood has a version of this tool for $299 vs $550 for the Snap-On one. I plan to order one soon and try to give a review with some pics.

Here is a dynabrade, It almost seems to me that they may have made this for snap-on. A few years back, I sold a few crud thugs, never stocked them on the truck so obviously didn't sell enough of them. I think the da sanders are dynabrade as well. If you look at them side by side there are a lot of similarities. I would imagine that eastwoods tools are probably built by someone else as well.

I would also like to see a link to the Eastwood one if possible?

So here's my take as I have used the Snap-on and the Wurth version of both of these.

First depending on what you are trying to take off go slow and do NOT over heat any of these tools you will kill it!!

When I had the shop we went through two Snap-ons one was bought used off of CL lasted about 6 months. So ok must have been used hard before I got it (nope it was brand new) so my Snap-on dealer got me another one, yup 6 months and done.

Now the Wurth model in the collision shop lasted about 5 years, BUT (there's always a BUT) we only really used it to remove tape stipes and caulking from cars.

Thanks for the info and pics Rick. I am doing a couple of one time projects with it but had hoped they would be more durable than it sounds.
