Ricks new stamped tank VS Tanks inc new mini tubbed version
Glad to see more options for mini tubbed first gens, now I just need to decide on one. leaning towards the new Ricks stamped tank cuz I like the fact it accepts late model fuel pumps. Has anyone else looked into these options yet?

1969 Notched Corner Chevy Camaro and Pontiac Firebird Fuel Tank - For Fuel Injection
http://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/pa...rod/prd458.htm Interesting. Notched tank, not any narrower across the back end and 1 inch deeper. |

I have used two different Rick's Tank and the quality is fantastic and made of stainless. My latest purchase was a vapor works and uses the 5th gen Camaro pump. I would choose them over anyone else as their customer service is as good as their quality...very high. |
Stamped tank is made from a top and bottom stamping and then zipper welded together just like a factory tank is as opposed to completely fabricated from flat stock like your stainless tank is.
Labor and materials are much less when making it this way, so cost is much less. FWIW, I believe tanks is stamping Aeromotives tanks. Ricks looks like they have their own tooling. There are pros to each one, the Tanks corners are clipped quite a bit more but it looks like the pick up has better baffling. |
new tank!

I have used Tanks Inc EFI set ups in several 1st Gens and they have all been trouble free. The last one was with my built LS7 approx 650 HP
I just received the clipped corner 69 Tank for my new car. Car has DSE Quadralink, mini tubbed and the LS3/525 HP crate motor going in. The quality of the powder coated tank is great. Tanks had a vent issue with their 1st Gen tanks that when the tank was full it could vent fuel as pressure in the tank increased. We solved the problem by adding a vent at the top of the filler neck. Tanks new design has resolved this issue by adding a vent port in the recessed area of the tank. IMHO getting a show quality Tank that holds approx 18 gals with pump (Walbro which is a good quiet pump) straps, and sending unit for about $600 shipped to your door is a no brainer. fyi - this tank will not fit cars with relocated leaf springs. |
